Underpinning the network's advocacy capacity in the field of migration

Brussels, 26 September 2008 - Today ended the 4th edition of the biennial Caritas Europa Training on Migration and Asylum, which was held in Brussels on 24-26 September 2008.

Seventeen migration experts from the Caritas Europa network and some partner organisations gathered under the theme: “Advocacy: Making Civil Societies’ Voice Heard in Policy Shaping” to strengthen their advocacy capacity at both national and EU level.

More specifically, the training aimed to:

  • Deliver an overview of the role of the European Union’s Institutions in relation to the European asylum and migration legislation

  • Share the advocacy experience of Caritas Europa

  • Practice the implementation of the learned skills into action

  • Encourage participation and coordination in Caritas Europa’s advocacy action
