Sponsored by the Czech Republic Ministry of the Internal Affairs, and implemented by Caritas Czech, this project started back in 1999 and will finish at the end of 2006.

The project aims at decreasing the potential for antisocial and pathological behaviour of disadvantaged groups in Ukraine as well as decreasing the use of methods of illegal migration to other countries, by those groups. In order to achieve its aiming, the project mainly focused on strengthening the groups’ social, material, civil and legal background on multiple levels.

The identified disadvantaged groups are:

  • Migrants from third countries

  • Persons without appropriate identification documents (most frequently coming from Ukraine or the so called second countries – countries of the former USSR)

  • Potential migrants into EU countries (focused on the Czech Republic) and other countries of the global community

  • Youth from socially disadvantaged families

  • Youth from residential and professional institutions

”Prevention of Illegal Migration from Ukraine to Czech Rep. and Assistance in Creation of an Asylum Infrastructure” has been implemented in the Ukrainian locations of Lvov, Kharkov and Kiev, where different services have been offered at different points of the implementation of the project:

  • Migration counseling

  • Asylum premises

  • Educational and professional courses strengthening the civil, legal, material and social background of potential migrants to EU countries (focused on the Czech Rep.) and other countries of the global community, migrants from third countries and undocumented migrants.
