NGOs' call for correct implementation of EU law on family reunification gets quick support from Commission
Less than 15 days after the publication of the Civil Society’s joint statement calling on the European Commission to “stop turning a blind eye to the fact that a series of Member States are not complying with the EU’s Family Reunification Directive”, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Cecilia Malmström, has announced that the Commission will monitor closely the implementation of the Directive in Member States and will ensure its correct implementation by starting infringement procedures where necessary or by issuing interpretative guidelines

Caritas pushes EU to let immigrants bring their families
Caritas Europa is requesting the European Union to ensure immigrants can bring their families in an open letter.
Its executive board, which met in Brussels earlier this week, wants the confederation ‘to guarantee respect for the right to family life for non-EU nationals and their families living in the EU’.

Caritas Europa asks for solidarity in the field of asylum The European Committee of the Regions met with Caritas Europa and regional authorities to improve cooperation on asylum.
The Committee is drafting an opinion in a report called "Enhanced intra-EU solidarity in the field of asylum – An EU agenda for better responsibility-sharing and more mutual trust".
The meeting focused on questions raised in a document titled ‘Enhanced intra-EU solidarity in the field of asylum’ that the Committee of the Regions published early last month.
