14 February: Meet the Poor

On the 14 February 2010, the Holy Father visited Caritas' shelter in Rome to underline his commitment to all those suffering of poverty and social exclusion. The visit was organised in connection to the Caritas campaign "Zero Poverty Act Now", that is being held across Europe within the framework of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion 2010.

Caritas Europa and COMECE seized the occasion to encourage Bishops in Europe to follow the lead of the Holy Father and make visits of their own. These events had an impressive media coverage in the countries where activities were held.
