MIGRATION, A JOURNEY INTO POVERTY?
A Caritas Europa study on poverty and exclusion of immigrants in Europe

Migration, a journey into poverty? describes and analyses socio-economic conditions and needs of immigrants in regular and irregular situation across Europe.

The study focuses on 5 areas that influence immigrants’ life situation; which are employment, housing, health, education and participation in public life, and identifies the key factors that can lead immigrants and their descendants into difficulties, possibly even poverty, in recipient countries.

Migration, a journey into poverty? proposes key recommendations to offset the present pattern of immigrants trapped in poverty simply because of their "different" origin.

The Report was launched on Monday 19 June 2006 at the Residence Palace (International Press Center) in Brussels. Just a month after its launch, Migration, a journey into poverty? has reached international recognition through its inclusion in the annexe III of the UN compilation of answers from international NGOs to the UN Secretary General Report on International Migration and Developement.
