Our Mission and Guiding Principles

Caritas Europa and its member organisations are especially committed to and involved in:

  • The reduction of inequalities between countries and within countries, fighting against poverty and social discrimination and promoting the integration of all

  • The peaceful solution of conflicts, seeking reconciliation, for instance, in the face of nationalistic tendencies

  • Fighting unemployment

  • Guaranteeing the rights of minorities

  • Preserving Europe as a place of refuge and protection for those who are persecuted and as a place where non-nationals are treated with respect

  • Eliminating the causes of forced migration

This network, inspired by the Gospel and the Catholic social teachings, is totally opposed to every form of oppression and is committed to justice. The inviolable dignity of the human person is its essential guiding principle, since nothing on earth is as sacred as man and woman, created in the image and likeness of God.
